The town flowed excitedly into the street.  Sheriff Bill Jennings and Bartender Nate Carver, leading the crowd, stopped just feet before the two strangers who had just vanquished the Cole Brothers’ Gang.  The dust swept up by the approach of the crowd added a fresh shadow over the four fallen desperados, two of them still squirming and groaning over their wounds. 

The sheriff was the first to speak.  “Great job boys; we owe you!”  A cheer went up from the crowd as others began to join and surround the dazed survivors.

“I’ll take care of these fellows” bellowed the sheriff.
