DYLAN MAKES JOURNEYS

By Kara Brown

We went to New York to see a movie.  Well, not just to see a movie.  We went to meet friends—a convergence of people from Georgia, Vermont, New York, and Connecticut.  We went for Thanksgiving break.  We went for vacation.  We went for a birthday.  And yes, we went for a movie.

My friend Dan’s birthday is in November; last year it fell two days before Thanksgiving.  Dan is also a Bob Dylan fiend, a Bob Dylan acolyte, a Bob Dylan devotee, a Bob Dylan fan.  And the day before Thanksgiving Day, the new Bob Dylan biopic, I’m Not There was released.  According to our information (information that turned out to be faulty, but that’s an amusing neither-here-nor-there story), this highly anticipated film (by us, at least) was not to be released in Atlanta until weeks later, but it was opening that night in New York City, at the Film Forum.
