A SOUL, BLACKENED

There was once a boy named Eric M. Olden. He was a typical kid trying to find an identity. One day he discovered a trend that fit his personality, mainly because it fit anyone’s personality. This trend was called “emo”, and it was the hippest thing around. Eric immediately went to his local mall and found a store called Sizzling Issue. He bought all the necessary fashions of the emo movement: tight pants, band t-shirts, metal-studded bracelets, and eye makeup – the essence of the look. Immediately afterward, he went and pierced his left eyebrow, bottom lip, and both of his ears – twelve times. He felt like he was finally a part of something bigger than himself, and he’d effectively fulfilled the ideals of egotism, self-depreciation, and uber-sadness, a paradox made...
